Let's get Techy for a minute. This is the full plan of our casita. The dark gray line is the perimeter of our property. We have that five foot wide open space between our casa and the one to the north of us, while the casa south of ours has a five foot open space adjoining our south wall. A bit different than the usual 'wall home' concept. I've marked the rooms, added our BBQ kitchen on the back patio, and added blue lines indicating the 'COCHERA' in front. This is the area we are finishing now. All open white space in this plan will be tiled in blue, right to the sidewalk in front. The 'indented' area you see near the bottom of the plan is the new 'porch' and entry. You can see in the next photo what the front wall to the cochera will look like. We are leveling the entire cochera area so it can be used for a patio, also. The wide opening in front is the driveway, so we can bring the car in at night. Between Ken's Den and our bedroom is a small atrium. Because the outside wall serves as the wall of our neighbor's breezeway, there are no windows. The atrium provides air and light for Ken's Den. The bedroom has a window on the patio side. For years, I'd wanted a 'prow-shaped' home, never dreaming it'd end up being our Mexican Casita! This is IT... where we spend seven months each year. Bienvenidos, Amigos!
